Pre production
We all practised lip syncing before the real filming and this was done in small groups where we all tried lip syncing together, this helped us to learn how to lip sync to the music with making it realistic and we did this in small groups. We then uploaded it onto youtube and the clip is shown below. After we did this we looked at the Busted video, I had to look at the Busted video in order to know what stages had to be done in the filming process, this was so I could see each step of the filming. I looked at the busted video on youtube and I paused at each clip and wrote down the clip number, length of the shot, what happened, the camera angle and drew sketches of what had been done, so it was easier to visualise. There was a total of 36 clips and after I then filled out another sheet where I could put together all the shots that could be filmed at the same time to make it quicker e.g. Charlie singing in the classroom, these could all be filmed at the same time as it would make it quicker and mean that the filming would be easier. For all of the clips I also worked out all the props and equipment that would be needed to ensure the production process would work, which helped us as we could tell people what do bring depending on their roles. We then worked out who would play the characters and this was done by choosing the best people at lip syncing. From doing this I learnt that planning has a key role in the production process as it makes you more organised and it helps plan the timing better in order to save time when filming different sections.
Production
The production process took 2 lessons, 1 lesson on Interior and one on exterior. We had to first of all get all the props and get everyone in costume which was shirts and ties and then for the teacher a pencil skirt, shirt and some heels with lots of makeup on. This made it more obvious to the audience and made the mise en scene better. We also got a camera and a white board. The white board was so it was easier to see the different clips when the editing process was to come and the clip numbers were wrote on it.
For the interior we had to set up the classroom and move the desks around so it looked like it does in the real video and like an authentic classroom. We had to get into our costumes for the filming which were shirts and ties and the teacher wore a shirt, skirt and heels. We made sure we made the filming process quciker by filiming all the same characters shots at the same time which sped up the filming process. We filmed all the inside shots which went well. We also had the music in the background so that the main singers (Harry, Pat and Tom) could lip sync easier. The music director was Molly and she also got the film clips of the animals. First of all we filmed all of the teachers parts at the same time e.g. the turning around. Some bits were quite hard to do, but we worked around it. For the exterior we filmed outside near the library where there was flat land and we brought speakers out with us so we could play the music. We also got the outside props which were the guitars and we got one from music and the others people brought from home. I was one of the background dancers, but we didn't have very many background dancers which made it look less like the video. The teacher wasn't needed in the exterior but she helped with where the dancers were standing and looking at the production which helped. The exterior proved harder than the interior because it was hard to hear the music and therefore it took us longer.
Post Production
We used Imovie to edit all the clips together and make the video, this was done by using our storyboards and we split up into two groups where we both edited the whole thing. I worked with Jacob and Jack and we finished the whole thing in 2 lessons. First of all we had to upload the whole footage which took a long time, after that was done we got all of the good shots and deleted the bad ones that we didn't need. Working in the groups helped me because some stuff that I knew others didn't and stuff that others knew I didn't know so it helped me to learn new skills. It was easier than I thought to edit the clips to the music and it looked really good when we did it. First of all we opened a new imovie document and uploaded the footage, we then got the best clips and did them in order of what we needed, and we cut them shorter to fit in with the timings, we did this by pressing cmd and T then deleting the bit that we didn't want. On the pencil dropping part, we realised in the Busted video it was slowed down so we moved the bar from the rabbit to the tortoise to make it slower and this got a good effect, we also did this on the dancing. This has helped me to understand how to edit on Imovie so will help me in the editing process when I do my music video.
